About FindFoster

Making local foster support easier to understand and use.

FindFoster is a Girl Scout Silver Award project created to connect foster families with practical local resources—and connect the wider community with meaningful ways to help.

Why it exists

Help is out there. Finding it can still be hard.

Resources are often spread across websites, flyers, social posts, churches, agencies, and word of mouth. FindFoster brings the essential details together so families can spend less time searching and more time connecting.

Our purpose

To create a respectful, practical, community-built guide for foster families—and a clear path for neighbors who want to support them.

Our approach

Listen. Verify. Organize. Connect.

Listen locally

Learn directly from organizations, caregivers, volunteers, and community partners.

Confirm the details

Ask each organization for its preferred description, contact route, service information, and permission before publishing original photos or logos.

Make the next step clear

Organize the information around what people need to know, not around institutional language.

Keep improving

Add verification dates and invite corrections because hours, eligibility, and current needs can change.

Respect comes first

Children are people—not content.

FindFoster avoids identifying images and stories of foster children unless appropriate, documented permission exists. The goal is to make help visible without turning a child’s experience into marketing.
